346. A MERCER'S ACCOUNTS.
c. 1470.These accounts for Master Thomas and Master Edmond probably refer
to the sons of Thomas Stonor who died in 1474. Both are imperfect and the
condition of the first account makes it impossible to be sure of its true charac-
ter; the latter part appears to be an account of expenses incurred by a
servant, possibly on bringing the stuff from London. The total given is
?21 4s. 11d., but the items preserved amount only to ?11 5s. 2d.; nearly half
the account would therefore seem to be lost. "Tynson" or tinsin is described
as a kind of sattin. "Tuke" or tewke was a material used in making purses.
The Account for Master Edmond is even more imperfect; the total is given
as 325. 4d., but the items preserved only amount for 3s. 4d. From Chancery
