Grant by Thomas Rempston, kt, to William Plompton, kt, of his manors of Kinoulton, Hassop, Wormhill, Pilsley, Stanton, Chelmorton and Combridge with their appurtenances, and of all his lands and tenements in Bakewell, Tideswell, Wheston, Flagfield, Martinside, Combes, Wardlow, Hurdlow, Spondon, Twyford, Lockhaw, Broughton, Crakemarsh, Monyash, Chesterfield and Chaddesden, with all other lands, tenements, rents and services, whether free or of villeins with their progeny, and with all other appurtenances belonging to the above premises in Notts, Derbyshire and Staffs, with the advowsons and presentations of the chantries in Bakewell and Mansfield Woodhouse, together with the reversion of what was held by Dame Margaret Rempston for life upon the said Thomas and his heirs, all by reason of the feoffment made by the said William Plompton, kt, to Dame Agnes Stapleton, Brian Stapleton, kt, Ralph Pigott, esq., William Rempston, rector of the church of Bingham, Robert Rempston, Richard Redmayn, sen., esqrs, Richard Askham and William Wood, chaplains, all now deceased. To have and hold to the aforesaid William Plompton, kt, and his legitimate heirs male of the chief lords of that fee, and by due services, with remainder in case of lack of heirs male to Godfrey Plompton, his brother, and his heirs male, and in case of the death of Godfrey without heirs male, to the right heirs of Sir William in perpetuity. 1 On 25 Aug. following Sir Thomas appointed John . . . and Roger Jackson his attorneys to deliver seisin of these premises to Sir William, CB, 540. At the foot of this deed: ’These 4 last deeds have all one seale being very faire and undefaced at the copying the xith of June 1616, and haue written on the circumference Sigilla Thomae Remyston militis.’
